Hi everyone! I am a first grade teacher in Owasso, OK. Before moving to first grade I taught third grade in Oklahoma City where my students taught me so much about myself. As much as I loved my third graders I am so excited to teach first grade this year. I did both of my student teaching experiences in first grade, and I cannot be more grateful for the opportunity to teach first grade again.
I believe in purposeful play, and assessing students on their growth. We all know that students come from us with a very diverse background from their peers, and depending on our students background they come to us ready to learn at different levels. We are told to differentiate our instruction to our students instructional levels, but when we test our students we expect them to be on the same level? This doesn't make any sense to me so I love to remind my students of the growth they have made, and where they started the year.
I graduated with distinction from The University of Oklahoma, and was voted most outstanding senior by my sorority for my work in special education.
I went to public school in the same town my whole life. I was a Henryetta, Ok Knight through and through until I was accepted to The University of Oklahoma. I now bleed crimson and cream.
I am an open book so please contact me with any questions you may have! Lauren.B.Rodgersemail@example.com
