I have a bachelors degree in Sociology with an emphasis in children, youth, and family and a minor in Criminology. I hold a Masters in Human Services with an emphasis in Social Systems and a concentration on family and work. As a former Career Counselor from a State University I left to teach career education independently because of what I saw and realized the solution to fixing those problems were starting much earlier. We can never become what we don't know exists and I have set out to increase exposure in early career education. We place more emphasis on saving $5 a day for college for 18 years than we do teaching 5 jobs a day for 18 years and most high schoolers leave for college thinking work sucks and knowing only a handful of uniformed careers. 80% of students nationwide change their majors at least once and more than half drop out.
You will see a variety of materials on my site because I homeschool my preschool and 3rd grader, and create career curriculum for middle, high school, college, and adults. I am just starting to put things on here, so be patient but you will eventually find a lot of fun, innovative, educational, and realistic work to help increase career exposure in children ages 2-Phds.
I currently teach Career Vision workshops around Southern California through a State library grant. People literally sit for 6 hours to hear the information I present and I only give two 10 minute bathroom and snack breaks. Many people have attended more than once and a few people have been more than that. My workshops are descriptor as innovative, eye opening, realistic, and something people wish they had when they were kids.
