Currently enjoying my eighth year of teaching Family & Consumer Sciences. I've taught a variety of content areas within FCS, but my main areas of expertise are career exploration and child development.
I am a laid back teacher who has found the healthy balance between positive relationships with students and an authority role as well. I prefer to let students do discovery of information whenever possible. Although I do use the occasional power point, I prefer to make sure my students do not experience 'death by power point' by making them visually interesting and more brief.
Adolescent and Young Adult Student Teacher of the Year--2009
I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a Bachelor's Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Vocational Education. I then went on to earn my Master's Degree from Ashland University in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on Instructional Technology.
I'm the mother of two little boys, six and three, with another one on the way this fall.
