TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my fifth year teaching 2nd grade. I was a substitute teacher for several years as well as a school volunteer when my children were small. I also have experience in Kindergarten,1st and 3rd grades as well experience as a Primary Reading Teacher. I am happy to be teaching at the elementary school level where each day is an adventure!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is learning through exploration and discovery. Therefore, there is a lot of movement and discussion throughout the day in my classroom. My Teaching philosophy is centered around the Constructivist paradigm. I believe a teacher's role is to facilitate learning, create conditions of learning while encompassing and welcoming diversity. Reflection is also an integral part of this process.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am proud to say I have been a lifelong resident of NC. My husband of twenty-two years is originally from Massachusetts and we have two wonderful children. Also, my mom was from the Philippines and my Dad from Germanton, NC so I had an interesting and wonderful childhood full of different experiences. Therefore, I love listening to students share where their families are from, their favorite foods, and what they like to do for enjoyment. I believe in celebrating diversity and that all children can teach us something exciting and new.
