TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching high school English for five years. I mainly teach English III, AP Language and Composition, and English IV. Over the past five years, I have been a cheerleading coach, Graduation Project Co-Coordinator, and English III PLC leader.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I typically use more of a facilitator style approach to teaching high school English. This teaching style emphasizes student-centered learning and there is much more responsibility placed on the students to take the initiative for meeting the demands of various learning tasks. I find that when students are engaged in an activity to learn a concept it is much more meaningful. My students are often doing individual work at the beginning of the class and then break into their groups for a portion, and then we reconvene to share work.
