TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm a permanent fixture in 3rd grade as I've been teaching that grade for 31 years. No matter what school or what state, I land in 3rd grade! And, I'll admit that it's where I feel most comfortable and right at home.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style creates a calm and inviting atmosphere for my students. It's my belief that students learn best when they feel able to take risks without fear of failure.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Teacher of the Year at the local school level for 2011 - 2012

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I began as a Psychology major in undergrad a long, long time ago. My student teaching and certification were both in secondary education. Quickly, I realized I was not where I needed to be. Not long afterwards, I returned to college to earn an MEd in Early Childhood Education. And the rest......I lived happily ever after with 8 year olds!

I'm a South Carolina native with strong roots there. But, I currently live in Georgia and let all my students and colleagues know that I'm a Carolina Girl at heart!
