I've worked in education for 16 years (K-2nd grade teacher, middle school counselor, editor, and educational curriculum developer for teachers).
-Differentiate instruction based on the needs of students. "Without good character knowledge can be dangerous. Without healthy self-esteem knowledge can be wasted. Wisdom evolves from healthy self-esteem, good character and knowledge. All people have a need to feel loved, cared for and respected. This star banner is a useful reminder for teachers and students. It helps us remember what’s really important… Helping our children develop the self-esteem, good character and academic skills to make a positive difference in the world. They are all Star Students and we have the perfect opportunity to help our students shine." - Carol Brooke, Teaching Resource Center, Free Star Student Banner, 08/07/2009

In addition to teaching K-2nd grade and working as the sole school counselor for 800 students, I have also created hundreds of lesson plans for teachers online. Most of the lesson plans are free. My work is on Teaching Resource Center, Wikki Stix and TeacherHub, to name a few. Hey, if I would have known about this years ago I'd be a millionaire by now. Lol. I love helping teachers because I know how it feels when you give your entire heart, mind and soul into teaching your students their academic subjects, healthy self-esteem and good character. When we help each other it's a ripple effect that goes on into the lives of the children and future generations. Teachers need support and care, too. That's why I love sharing with teachers. I published a children's book, Bumble Bear Daniel Bear Learns a Lesson, years ago. I had fun giving a book talk about it at Borders. The book is currently out-of-print, but someone (I have no idea who) has been selling the the out-of-print books on amazon for a pretty penny. (I could actually use that money right now, btw.) I'm kinda surprised at what they are asking for it, but I see that two have sold already. I wrote this book during writers' workshop with my second grade students in Los Gatos and Redwood City, Ca. My illustrations have changed since then. I now know Adobe Illustrator. All the illustrations in the book are pen and pencil. The book is about a selfish bear who turns into a bumble bear after he's stung by a magical bee as he was stealing honey. While living life as a bumble bear Daniel begins to work for his honey, and his heart changes. He earns respect from his forest friends. Later, he teaches all the forest creatures to respect all creatures and work for their honey. I'm considering selling this book here with a bonus teaching product that can be used on a classroom bulletin board. Please let me know if you are interested.
