TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm in my eighth year as a school librarian. Previously I taught fourth grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I operate my library on a fully open schedule. This is possible because of a full time library assistant. I share a day in our Specials rotation with our technology specialist and school counselors. This allows me to see fixed classes twice a day and have a large block of time available for small groups and collaboration. I operate library centers during all checkout times: during our class checkout and for students who come to checkout during our open time. My library centers help keep students engaged and more importantly, gives them a reason to visit the library. I want them to see the library as an exciting place they can return to at any point in their life.
