I have been teaching 8th Grade Science and Language Arts for 7 years. I have taught Special Education Language Arts, and Elementary School interventions. My school population includes many students with IEPs, 504s, and ELL students. I am CRISS, Kagen, and SIOP (ELL) certified.
My teaching style is that I first teach students, and then my subject. I strive to create a classroom that is a safe and happy place for students; it is one that encourages interpersonal skills as well as academic success.
I have received the Teacher of the Month twice, and our district's Spirit Award for excellence in demonstrating integrity and pride in my work.
I studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and obtained my Science endorsement through the University of Montana online.
I strive to make sure that each lesson includes discussions of character development and leadership skills. I have my Leadership Certificate from the University of Illinois, and spend my summers teachers at a leadership camp in southern Illinois.
