I started my teaching career in the 2005-2006 school year teaching three different levels of United States History, including for English Language Learners. By the 2007-2008 school year I began teaching both Advanced Placement World History and World History, and have continued that schedule through today. I participated in the Advanced Placement World History reading this summer and am also trained in Active Participation and English Language Learner strategies. I have also taught American Government (student teaching), and Geography (one year until our district cut the program).
My students would describe my teaching style as enthusiastic. I try to get students involved in the material as much as possible. Although we do take notes and complete normal book assignments, most of their book assignments are done at home so students can participate in activities related to the material during class. This is for both my AP and regular World History classes.
I was selected as the Best New Teacher in my district for the 2007-2008 school year.
I graduated high school in 2001, earned my Bachelor's Degree in History in 2004, and earned my Single Subject Social Science Teaching Credential in 2005. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in World History, hopefully completing my coursework and exam in December of 2013.
