The Centre for Literacy has supported students with learning difficulties since 1991. Decades of experience using existing and emerging evidence-based practices has enabled the Centre for Literacy to build a large teaching toolkit to help struggling readers and writers. The resources created and published by the Centre for Literacy have been rigorously tested and trialed by the teachers at the Centre who are supporting students with Learning Disorders and challenges as well as regular classroom teachers. We will also be releasing games and different literacy and numeracy resources. So stay tuned!
At the Centre for Literacy, we believe that learning should be fun, engaging and hands-on. We also believe in using a 3 Tiered approach to differentiate instruction so that we can meet the needs of all students.
Ashley McPherson, the head resource designer, was nominated for the Edwin Parr Beginning Teacher Award in 2017 for her outstanding literacy instruction.
The team at the Centre for Literacy has decades of collective experience. Many of the members of our team hold Master's degrees and have taught in many contexts.
