TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm currently a school counselor and I have taught 6th grade math, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry for over 10 years. As a math coach I try to share fun and interactive technology that teachers can incorporate into the classrooms that will not take up much time. My classroom has always consisted of students with varied levels of math abilities. To help my English learners and the students with learning disabilities I have created short animated videos that effectively teach the skill needed to master the math concept. Along with great teaching strategies I have been able to see students succeed in record high numbers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

All my lessons start with a short story or short video that will make the abstract concept concrete for the student. By use of video, pictures, and body movements students are able to remember abstract concepts and recall them easily with a simple picture. By using humor in my videos and stories students are more willing to learn and participate.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was awarded teacher of year 2006.
