TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a secondary history/social science teacher. I obtained my California Secondary Teaching Credential in 1996. Subjects Taught include: 7th grade World History, 8th grade U.S. History, 9th grade Honors World History, 10th grade World History, 11th grade U.S. History, 12th grade Civics, 12th grade Economics, 12th grade online Civics, Adult Ed. ESL Citizenship Class. I am currently teaching 11th grade U.S. History and 12th grade Civics.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach in an urban community with a high population of English Language Learners and a high poverty rate. Since I am on the Leadership Team at my school, I am part of the first group of teachers who are instructed in the new teaching methods. I use a wide variety of teaching strategies including; Gradual Release of Responsibility, Constructing Meaning, SDAIE, Cornell Notes, Costa's Questions, etc.
