Jodee and Corena have over forty-six years of combined K-2 teaching experience. Their work is founded on a belief that all children can learn and that they learn best through exploration and practice through meaningful and authentic lessons connected to their world. They strive to deepen understanding for all learners by developing cultural forces that ensure thinking and learning. This duo has worked collaboratively as a first grade team and as a one/two combination classroom. With such expansive experience, they have developed an impressive “bag of tricks” for just about every unique young learner. It’s time for these two professionals to share their knowledge and experience with others through this storefront!

Both educators have been nominated for Clarkston’s Teacher of the Year; Jodee was a finalist in 2000 and Corena won that honor in 2007. Corena was also nominated for Oakland County Teacher of the Year. Corena is responsible for academic service learning staff development for the Clarkston School District and is an advocate for this project approach across all grade levels. This work has received state and national awards/recognition. Corena is also a two-time recipient of the Employee Recognition Award and a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Service Award for Clarkston Schools. Jodee is highly trained in the Cultures of Thinking initiative and been instrumental in developing positive changes in educational pedagogy and practice for the past four years. She has been the lead teacher in her building responsible for educating teachers and staff. Both educators are trained facilitators for Love and Logic and served on numerous PLC and School Improvement Committees including Respect Action Team, Literacy and Assessment, Math, Social Studies and Handwriting.
Jodee has been happily married for 27 years and is the mother of two beautiful daughters. She received her Bachelor’s Degree with an Early Childhood Endorsement in Elementary Education from Oakland University in Michigan. Corena has been happily married for more than 37 years and is the mother of five children. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in education from Central Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from the same. In addition, she earned an Early Childhood endorsement from Oakland University.
