I have worked with children for over ten years. When I attended Eastern Michigan University I worked at the University’s pre-school. There I found that my true calling was to work with young children. When I moved to Georgia I became a private pre-kindergarten teacher. The school I worked at was a NACYE accredited school. After five years of working at the pre-kindergarten level I took a job working with first graders at a private Catholic school. In 2014 I took over one of their Kindergarten classrooms. My current school provides an exceptionally, challenging K-8 co-educational program that is committed to meeting the needs of the whole child – body and soul, mind and heart. It has been designated as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education and is fully accredited by AdvancEd.
I am a true believer in allowing students “try out” what they are learning. I believe that there are many types of learners and that as a teacher I need to be able to present information in many ways. I also allow children to have movement in their learning. I feel very strongly about allowing young children to show me what they have learned through experiments and hands on activities versus tests.
Yet to be added
I went to Eastern Michigan University were I studied Reading in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood. I attended Western Governors University were I studied Curriculum and Instruction. I am now attending Mercer University where I am working on Educational Leadership in Early Childhood. My goal is to get my Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction.
I am very blessed to work for a wonderful school. As a teenager I heard God’s call to me to work with young children. I have never looked away from that. Although I had to take many different roads to get where I am now, I know it is because of him that I am here. I am very grateful for everything that I have.
