TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Taught 8th grade math for 2 years Taught 4th and 5th grade for 7 years (and am currently teaching 4th grade) Taught Art (K-8) for 1 year Instructor of graduate level courses in teacher preparation program for 3 years Cooperating Teacher for 5 years

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in creating a culturally responsive classroom where students are able to tap into their prior knowledge and background, to help advance and contribute to their learning. In addition, because students come in with a wide range of abilities, I believe in differentiating curriculum and instruction to help meet their needs. I also have a love for technology, and enjoy finding creative and new ways to integrate that into my daily practice, to help increase student engagement. Finally, I believe in cultivating a classroom environment where students have a sense of voice, safety and respect; are involved in the democratic participation of rules and decisions of the classroom; and have self-regulation and autonomy to work independently and make their own decisions to help further their learning.
