TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught at a variety of schools over the past seven years. Some of those schools included stacked classes where I taught 5th-12th grade ELA. Currently, I am working at a large high school in the Texas Hill Country. I am also working on my dissertation in education. The focus of my research is using drama pedagogy to help students connect to texts and enjoy their time in the English classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am fun, always looking to try something new and I have very high expectations for my students. I work to have creative, tactile and authentic lessons and activities in my classroom. I am also constantly seeking out new and better ways to help my kids connect to what we are doing in class. I want them to value learning.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have my BFA in Theatre Education and my MS in Reading and Literacy. I am currently working on my Ed.D. in literacy where I am combining drama pedagogy with secondary ELA classroom activities.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am excited to build units that use drama and ELA. I feel strongly that even students at the secondary level want to play as they learn, and I've seen my kids become much more engaged as they participate in drama activities.
