TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have a master's degree in library science. This means I encourage a love of reading and learning for all ages and abilities. I have created activities for many different disciplines. As a librarian, reading teacher, and elementary teacher, I have taught in a variety of situations all over Wisconsin and Minnesota. I have also published a few articles in School Library Monthly and in Upstart magazines.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Working in a library, I have to be very organized in teaching. On the flipside, I also have to be flexible as in an elementary library you never know what is going to happen (or what question a child may ask.) As librarians often don't have set curriculums and basals, I have created many of my own activities, lesson plans, and curriculum. I also help many different teachers along the way by creating worksheets and units for many ages and abilities including a lot in special education. All my materials have been student tested and teacher approved!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My greatest honor is the smiles on my student's faces!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My education started in fifth grade when I volunteered in my school's elementary library. After high school, I got my bachelor's teaching degree in Wisconsin for early childhood and elementary education. Then I continued on to get my master's degree in library science.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Wisconsin has always been my home. I love the winter and snow (except when my car goes in the ditch!) I have such a great loving family and wonderful friends that support me in everything I do. Reading and books have been a labor of love for me since I was 11 and helping in my own elementary library. It's amazing to know that I can bring that same love of reading to my students.
