I have taught all core academic subjects at the elementary level, and Languages Arts and study skills at the middle school level. From 2011 to 2016 I taught English as a second language internationally to kindergarten students in a dual language environment. After nine years in the classroom I now freelance as a tutor and drama teacher.
I believe that all learning should be student-centered, promoting growth and development both academically and personally. My teaching style consists of hands-on, engaged learning where students are challenged to be innovative thinkers. I encourage students to explore and understand how they are learning and when to apply the necessary skills to problem solve and think critically.
Yet to be added
I hold a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) graduate certificate. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Child Development, History, Reading and Language Arts.
I am a big proponent of the performing arts as a poet and playwright. Humanities in education are essential to human development both socially and cognitively and should be included in all curriculum with equal importance to all subjects of study across grade levels.
