This is my second year as a third grade teacher in Virginia. I work at a Title 1 school with a high ELL population and absolutely LOVE it! I have a range of learners in my room, from newcomers to gifted. With this in mind, I must always keep differentiation in mind for all of my little friends. This is why you will find a range of resources on here - it is what I use in my classroom each day! I will never post a product that I myself have not tried in my classroom.
I like to keep "freedom within structure" in my classroom. I strive to create activities that get the students having conversations and actively learning, while still being held to high standards from my end. My mission is to first and foremost teach students that they are capable of doing wonderful things. Once you have planted that seed in their minds, the possibilities are endless. Exploration through text, hands-on activities, discussions, or just as we are walking to lunch is one of the greatest joys of teaching for me.
I currently serve on my school's Instructional Support Team, which is a group of teachers that give advice to teachers who have students with academic or behavioral concerns. I also serve on the Reading Instruction Correlate Team. Both of these experiences have given me many tools to be a better instructor and supporter for my students.
I graduated from Bridgewater College in 2014.
