I have been teaching English Literature and Language in Ontario, Canada since 1996. In the Ontario public school system, I have taught all high school grades and levels of English. As well, I am also a technology specialist with my Masters of Educational Technology. I currently manage a D2L course management system and work with teachers to use this system effectively to enrich the teaching and learning in their elearning or blended learning classes.
My style of teaching varies with the subject matter and the students. It is my purpose to help students develop proficient reading and writing skills as they become modern, critical thinkers. I use the D2L course management system to organize and deliver my elearning and blended learning courses.
Shining Moments: 1. Students returning to tell me that I've prepared them well for post-secondary education. 2. Students telling me that they miss having me as a teacher. 3. Students coming to my classroom to visit during lunch. 4. Students who tell me they have never read a novel themselves prior to my class.
I completed my Masters of Educational Technology program at UBC in 2014. I am qualified to teach with an Ontario Bachelor of Education at the Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels. I have my Specialist in English as well as Intermediate History qualifications.
I love cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, and the great outdoors.
