TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a science teacher for 11 years. I have taught biology, chemistry, physics, AP Chemistry, environmental science, and forensic science over the past 11 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in hands-on instruction. No matter the deficits of my learners, everyone can use their hands, therefore, everyone can learn how to do something that they may have never done before. Also, I believe I am a facilitator of learning. Students learn best when they are pursuing the knowledge. I implement lots of stations-based activities so students get to explore concepts at their own pace. I give a lot of student choice as well in their assignments. Lastly, I am a huge fan of the Flipped Classroom model.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I spent four years at UCLA, and then finished and went to USC to get my Master’s degree and my Doctoral degree. I have taken a lot of challenging math and science classes, and I bring that rigor into my classroom. Because I know what it takes to be successful in college science classes, I use what I’ve learned to teach my students. Because we are scientists with different cultures and experiences, all of our contributions are needed!
