For ten years, I had the privilege of working as a Montessori elementary teacher. I have taught in North Carolina and Georgia at the lower and upper elementary levels (first through sixth grades). Prior to this, I loved my work as an outdoor and environmental educator, helping children discover an appreciation for the natural world. I am now enjoying my life as a homeschooling mom for my two boys, ages 6 and 9, and my daughter who is 3.
My teaching style can best be described as "guided choice". I like to provide a variety of materials and choices and encourage children to make decisions about what work is best for them. This approach leads children to challenge themselves and helps them feel ownership over their accomplishments.
Smiles and satisfied children are my award :-)
I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland in Australia. My majors were psychology and zoology. Later, I attained my Montessori Elementary Teaching Credential in North Carolina through the American Montessori Society.
I am originally from Australia and now live in Georgia with my husband. We have three children and a fourth due in February, 2019. I love to travel and, along with Australia and the United States, I have also lived and worked in South Africa and Ireland.
