I have been in education for near five decades and have taught on virtually every level but primarily high school and university level at most times in my career. I have also taught and/or trained teachers on four continents, spending over five years at a university in Wuhan, China. Also authored two books; one on my life in China (published in both English and Chinese) and one (on this site) about how to better teach English to Chinese students.
Teaching is not a science, even if you are teaching science! Teaching is an art, and one must be part actor/artist to be a successful teacher. Watching you teach or speak needs to be so exciting that the students or any audience is hanging on your words. At a seminar several years ago, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, two of the richest people in the world, were asked if they could return to college again, what would they wish to learn? Both instantly replied "public speaking." Buffet added, "If you can speak well in public it will serve you well all of your life. If you cannot, it will hurt you all of your life." This is what my products are designed to do: (1) to help the teacher become a better public speaker and "actor" in their own teaching, and (2) to help students gain confidence in performing in front of an audience (the public) and thus developing their own skills in public speaking; a skill that will serve them well all of their lives. After teaching English in Wuhan, China, for over five years my students developed excellent English speaking skills and they consistently said the #1 thing I taught them was CONFIDENCE in speaking English to anyone. That is what you, as teachers, will help give your students in using any of my products.
I have been in various leadership positions for many organizations and have given more than 300 presentations all over the world. I have a personal web site at robertstanelle.com for those who may wish to learn more. I was recently greatly honored by my university in China as the most popular American teacher in the history of their university.
I did my bachelor's at Ball State and masters and doctoral work at the University of Tennessee. All studies in the field of education and educational leadership.
Born and raised in Wisconsin. Yes, I'm a "cheesehead" and avid Packer fan. Have lived and taught all over the U.S. and world. Travel and learning about other cultures is in my blood. "We are what is in us, and why it is in us is a secret." Quote is from "Cry the Beloved Country."
