I have been a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist since 1994. Since becoming certified, my clinical experience has spanned all age levels from infant to geriatrics. Ten of those years were in the acute care/rehabilitation hospital/skilled nursing setting and the other eleven years have been in the public school setting. You can probably imagine the types of clients I have worked with have been very diverse.
I have worked with some teachers using the inclusion model, but I feel that the direct service model is more productive in our crowded classrooms.
I don't keep up with these things. It is rewarding for me to see my clients progress, meet their objectives and then graduate from my services.
Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education/Communicative Disorders and Sciences, Wichita State University, May 1992. Master of Arts in Speech/Language Pathology, Wichita State University, December 1994.
I live with my family in the great state of Kansas (although I am partial to Florida as well). My husband and I have three teenagers in high school; and they keep us very busy. I spend my "spare" time looking after our three goats, three dogs and a cat.
