I have taught for 5 years. My first year, I taught Kindergarten in a private school, but for the last 4 years I have been teaching Kindergarten, first, and second grades in an inner-city school. This year will be my third year teaching second grade.
I use a variety of strategies to appeal to every learning style in my classroom. I use and implement various Smart Board activities, listening exercises, hands-on learning, and stations to meet this objective. I use interactive notebooks to encourage note taking, and I have found it to be extremely useful to encourage passive learners to be more active. I also encourage parent involvement in their child's learning at home through my blog, flash cards sent home, word study, and by sending home printed books to add to their home library.

I earned my A.A.S. at South Plains College (Levelland, TX) in December 2005, and I am a 2008 graduate from the University of Wyoming with a B.A. in Elementary Education.
Teaching is truly my passion. I love integrating new ideas into my classroom and searching for the best way to teach my students! I have been married to my best friend for 11 years, have 1 dog, and enjoy spending time with friends and family, gardening, hiking, camping, visiting my family in Wyoming, and road trips!
