TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 6 years at a Title I High School. I have been fortunate enough to teach both the physical and biological sciences. More often than not, I taught anatomy and chemistry during the same academic year. Currently, I am the science resource teacher at my school and my main focus is 9th grade Biology, even though I am available to all teachers in my department.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Although I do think direct instruction is necessary, I really enjoy giving my students the opportunity to explore topics via activities and labs on their own. I realize there are different types of learners and "my beginning of the year" surveys usually indicate that many of my students are kinesthetic learners.

I have received accommodations from our District regarding my role as Athletic Business Manager at my school in previous years.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received a Bachelor's in Biomedical Science and minored in Psychology at the University of South Florida. Shortly after, I received my Master's in Global Communicable Disease and Infection Control at USF. Just recently, I received my Education Specialist degree in Ed Leadership from the University of West Florida.
