I am in my fourth year of teaching, my third year as a first grade teacher, but second year in North Carolina. I had two years experience teaching first grade in Kansas.
I follow a more reggio/montissori style of teaching, the students guide themselves and are encouraged to explore the world around them. many of the assignments I create give tools to help the children succeed however it dose not show them how to use it. Children will surprise you if you simply ask them what they think they should do. This does not mean that no help should be provided, but the correct scaffolding can work wonders. The reason I do this is because it helps to insure that the students do no get trapped in one way of doing something. I want to ensure that the options are as limitless as possible.
