TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I work with adults in knowledge management. Many people don't know what "knowledge management" means, but it basically comes down to telling interesting and useful stories, writing them down, and making them easy to find. Aesop did it early on. Now, all the people on Wikipedia, WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo (seriously), SomeoneNewTomorrow, etc. have picked up the baton. So, I help people find their stories. The stories that will help their fellow staff do their jobs better. These stories are how-to's, anecdotes about experiences, things that do not appear in the employee handbook, etc.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I tell stories in bizarre and memorable ways.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was always a terrible student. I was disruptive in class and never did my homework. It wasn't until high school where some of my teachers were as irreverent and difficult as I was that I really blossomed. Thank you, Miss Terrell. I could suddenly write what I was thinking and someone understood my point of view. After high school I went to study at university and the kicked around from major to major until I landed in statistics. I found that as long as I understood the concepts and could do the math, I did not have to read long tomes that really did not interest me. Now, I find I read those long tomes for pleasure, but it is different somehow when they are assigned. So, I have become a lifelong learner, and read voraciously.
