Throughout my career as a teacher, I have had the opportunity to instruct a diverse group of students. I participate in numerous professional development opportunities, which allow me to meet teachers and students from all over the world. I am completing my MA in World Language Instruction at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
My approach is always communicative/proficiency-oriented, and I use a variety of teaching methods in my classroom, with the ultimate goal of guiding students toward a functional use of the language. I integrate a variety of communicative/interactive activities in my classes that focus on the five basic foreign language skills (speaking, reading, writing, listening, and culture) and more importantly, places the students in an active role to foster critical thinking. I think Project Based Learning is the key to functional use of the language. I have also incorporated computer-assisted/multi-media activities, which have proven to be very effective tools in the language acquisition process.
