I have an obsession with creating creative holiday and informational (functional) text activities. I have been with the same school system since graduating college. I taught ninth grade English for four years. I am currently in my seventh year of teaching eleventh grade English. I am also extensively involved in school improvement. I write and assist in implementing school improvement plans; lead workshops for administrators, superintendents, and counselors concerning successful school improvement; and lead workshops for teachers concerning strategic teaching, differentiated instruction, general school improvement, etc.
My teaching style involves encouraging students to question, talk, reflect, explore, create, and MOVE! My classroom is rarely silent; I strongly believe that students learn best from communication and physical movement (with a purpose, of course). I know I am doing my job well when a student looks at the clock, and says, "Wow! Time flies in this class!"
