TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 13th year teaching social studies (high school). I now exclusively teach Economics/AP Macroeconomics, Government, and AP U.S. Government. I finished my Masters in 2004 and became National Board Certified in 2005. Other than teaching, I also train teachers on how to incorporate economics/personal finance into the k-12 curriculum.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love incorporating real world experiences into the curriculum along with current events. I like to give the students an outlet to express (and LEARN to express) opinions but learning to provide evidence for their beliefs.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2006 - Economics Teacher of the Year 2007 - students: overall winner in the state's Stock Market Game competition 2006-2012 - Economics Best Practices winner

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education - Mississippi State Masters in Education - Belhaven College National Board Certified
