I have been a daycare provider for seventeen years. Over the years I was never aboe to find preschool curriculum that offered activities for children with a wide range of ages. I needed something that was age appropriate for ages 3-4 but could be easily modified for ages 2 to young 3's. After several years of using the best that I could find, I decided to create my own curriculum. I created twenty six preschool curriculums, one for each letter of the alphabet.
I have the children develope at their own pace due to the ages differances that I often have. I allow them make mistakes, problem solve and advance. If we make a craft, I offer the directions, show a sample, then let them create the project on their own. If an eye is placed in the wrong spot I leave it. I never tell them it is wrong or that should have done it differently.
The honors I have received have come from the families which I provide care for. One special award was a "I love Cindi's daycare because" jar. The families got together and had the adults and children write on strips of paper (paper chain) what they loved the most attending my daycare. Examples of what some of the strips said: I love it when Cindi holds and cuddles me, I love Cindi's toys they are the best, I love it when Cindi takes us on field trips, I love that I feel comfortable leaving my children in Cindi's care, etc. There were 35 strips total.
