Although I am only in my second year of teaching high school, I have over four years of experience in the field of education. I got my start in adult education, running English and math college prep courses at a community college. After working at the community college, I earned my Master of Education degree, gaining my teaching certification in secondary English. I am currently teaching English at an urban high school in the Midwest.
In my view, teachers are facilitators, working to guide students through the learning process. I believe strongly that students have the ability to create meaning for themselves. Thus, I design my units around collaborative work, which requires students to use their knowledge to create original products.
