This visual is great for teaching the easy onset strategy in fluency therapy. My students really seem to like the "hill" graphic and they use their finger to follow along with my instructions. Have them start at the very left side of the "hill."

This is a simple subject/verb agreement visual for conjugations of "be." I have one laminated that I use during group sessions or hang on the wall for a reminder. Enjoy! DMCA Statement (The boring stuff): “This item is a paid digital download

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a speech-language pathologist for over 7 years now. My experience ranges from the private clinical setting to early intervention to school based practice. This is my second year in a full-time school position and my first experience with TpT. I have spent most of my career working with children of all ages with autism spectrum disorders. I have also worked as a supervisor of graduate students at my alma mater, St. Xavier University. My passion is working with kids, but my interests in the field of speech-language pathology are always evolving and expanding. Because of my experience in working with children and adolescents with autism, I am always having teachers and other therapists asking me to "whip up a social story" or provide some behavioral supports. After purchasing some materials on TpT, I got to thinking, "I should do that!" My interests in the field include prevention, language disorders, feeding therapy, social skills, phonological awareness, augmentative communication and parent education. I hope you enjoy my products!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Although I was trained to be a relatively structured therapist throughout my education, I have learned so much during my career about the importance of play and teaching language in natural settings. Don't get me wrong, my practice is definitely structured and my students know me as a no-nonsense type of person. I don't like to give rewards that are not earned and my students are always aware of and track their own progress. While working in early intervention, I became deeply connected to prevention. I am constantly assessing my students, trying to push them beyond their Zone of Proximal Development and getting them on the same level as their peers. I see most of my speech groups outside of the classroom, but I have found that I learn more about the kids from being in their general education classroom. I have learned so much from teachers and I hope to apply my knowledge of language and speech development to their curricula. Collaboration is my favorite thing about working in a school. I have the opportunity to work with brilliant and innovative educators and I love being a part of their team!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the mother of 4...soon to be 5 and I currently live in Castle Rock, CO. We moved to CO from Chicago last July and could not be happier! We love spending time outdoors, doing Colorado-ish things like hiking, camping, biking and exploring the awesome terrain. My husband and I grew up in northwest Indiana, near Lake Michigan and I will always be a lake girl. We are lucky enough to visit our parents in Indiana in the summers and get our beach time in! We love spending time with our many siblings, cousins and nieces and nephews.
