I have taught in the charter school system for 3.5 years, both were in the 4th grade setting. I have also taught a 1st and 2nd grade combination class for 1 year , 1st Grade, 5th Grade and now 2nd Grade. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and I recently obtained my certificate in Reading Instruction. I have written Pacing Guides for 4th Grade, 3rd Grade and 5th Grade. I have written the Science Curriculum for 1st Grade in Anchorage, Alaska.
I am a mixture of old-school meets new-school type of teaching. I am a firm, but loving teacher and one that enjoys letting loose and playing around with my students. I let them see me cry and I allow myself to let them know when I am upset with them and more so I let them know when I am proud of them and our class. I have tried to venture into groups, but enjoy having a bit more control over my class. I hope one day I can find a nice balance between the two.
