Nine fabulous years teaching mixed-age classrooms, all of them spent making materials to use in my classroom and share with my fellow teachers. Two invigorating years ago I also accepted a position instructing teaching students on their botany and biology curriculum. Now, after hearing so many times that I ought to sell my materials, I'm here! :-)
I strive to produce materials that are flexible and provide multiple points of interest to engage every child. New research into learning and the human brain has much to offer us, and my materials are designed with consideration for the learning process as well as the teacher's practical needs.
All the award I could wish for was when our 4th/5th grade teacher said "Thank you for that ecosystem material, it was just what I needed and my class loved it!"
Master's in Education, certification to teach Montessori grade 1-3, course on teaching Montessori Preschool-K, Bachelor's degree combining history, language and science.
Montessori was an incredible scientist, creating an educational philosophy based on her research and insight into children. I currently teach at a Montessori school, and many ideas from her schools are now in use in other education systems. However, every person and group must maintain the same open mind we strive to impart to children. Regardless of what famous educator's name may be stamped on them, I am always seeking the best educational practices to enrich children's learning.
