TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm in my 4th year teaching at a Title I high school in the Atlanta suburbs. During my time teaching 9th and 10th grade, I've had the opportunity to teach on-level, honors, and gifted courses, in addition to AP Language & Composition. I'm currently part of a business-focused academy, so my lessons tend to foster connections to the real world and are interdisciplinary in nature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I run a student-centered classroom. I rarely lecture for more than a few minutes at a time. My goal is to facilitate learning through engaging activities such as write-arounds, stations, and digital peer reviews.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Member of the county-wide Literacy Leadership Team for three years, Academy Lead Teacher for 2018

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Mercer University (B.A. in English w/ Secondary Education Certification, 3.9 GPA), Georgetown University (M.A. in English, 3.9 GPA)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I named my TpT store Classics and Composition because my resources here will focus on two things: my love of teaching classics in a way that makes their relevancy explicit and my love for teaching writing.
