TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am the Autism program teacher at the high school where I work. It is a sub-separate educational setting with vocational and educational opportunities and a lot of laughs.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to be relaxed. Working in Special Education, with some of the students on my roster, relaxed is the way to go. We have group discussions, SmartBoard activities, and dance parties every Friday afternoon.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nominated for the Grinspoon Award for new teachers.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I went to a small parochial school for K-8, and an even smaller parochial high school for 9-12. In college, I decided to become a Special Education teacher after doing a practicum in a room for students with special needs. It changed my entire outlook on the educational system, and here I am.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I enjoy cooking, my cats, and writing social stories during staff meetings. Just don't tell my principal that.
