I've been a teacher for 23 years in grades from kindergarten to high school. I spent 20 years primarily working with special needs students, and I'm now teaching 3rd Grade.
I teach with the belief that all students can learn, even if their learning looks different. Support, care, and concern for students are essential to build student trust and encourage learning.
Now that I've been teaching long enough for my former students to grow up, I've seen many of them as happy, successful adults. Since I was a special education teacher for twenty years, this makes me especially proud. Several of my parents wrote letters of recommendation during this time, resulting in me being named an Alabama Teacher of the Year finalist. I was so honored! I hope to continue making a positive impact on lives for many years to come!
