TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked at a Rural Public High School in southern Maine for the past two years with Juniors and Seniors, teaching US History, Civics, Sociology, and Writing. I also have experience as a camp counselor/trip leader, which seeps into some of my lessons!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My goal is always to engage: through practicing empathy with emotionally intense primary sources, through thinking critically about relevant current events, through forming community and trust in the classroom. Experiential learning, social-emotional learning, team-building, open discussion, student-centered assignments. Learning history as a quest to better understand our world today. Writing to better understand ourselves. Inspiring active citizens and agents of change. At least, these are the goals :)
