Hello, I have been an inner-city low SES elementary school teacher for the past twelve years. I have taught multiple years in 4th grade regular ed., over five years in a basic LD classroom for 4th & 5th graders, and I am currently teaching in a K-3 resource room. I strongly believe that any student can and will learn when specific skills are scaffolded in such a way as to make the material accessible.
My teaching style begins with assessing where a student is currently functioning. I then attempt to scaffold a series of lessons designed to meet the specific needs of each student, and the class as a whole. It is my belief that every student can and should be reached through proper scaffolding of lessons. I also believe that a great teacher must establish both trust and respect.
