I have 29 years experience teaching math at the middle school and high school levels. I have taught primarily pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry and currently teach at Lincoln High School in Stockton, CA.
In addition to teaching, I have been a basketball coach for 28 years, which is reflected in my teaching style. I motivate, coach, and teach students how to work hard and take responsibility for their learning. I myself struggled in math in high school, and was only able to be successful because I learned how to break difficult math concepts down to it's finest parts. In the classroom I "coach" students through a step by step method which allows them to understand the why and the how of doing math.
I have been a mentor teacher, have been asked to design curriculum, and have coached new teachers in best practices for teaching and classroom management.
I began high school in Medford, OR, graduated from Mustang, OK. Earned my BA at MidAmerican Nazarene College and my MA in Education from Chapman University.
I am married, have 5 kids, and love sports and the outdoors. In addition to teaching and coaching, I am also a motivational speaker. I wrote and published my first book in 2019 titled, "The Legacy Game Plan".
