I've been tutoring since university on and off. Now I do it full-time and love what I do. I tutor French and Spanish to all ages of kids and adults. I work with kids who are learning a language for the first time, those who need extra help with their school classes, and adults who want to learn a new language for fun or travel.
I use a communicative approach to get my students talking right away. I love TPRS (learning through story telling) and CI (comprehensible input). I also love mnemonics and using spaced repetition to reinforce learning. Also, I use clipart and other visuals to help visual learners and TPR (total physical response) for kinesthetic learners.
Yet to be added
I have a degree in teaching foreign languages, a minor in Spanish, and I've taken some non-degree classes in French.
I grew up speaking Spanish with my Salvadorean neighbors and my best friend from Peru. Later, my Peruvian stepfamily entered my life! I then earned a minor in Spanish at university. In 2011, I worked in East Boston, where I spoke Spanish every day at work. I love to travel, and I have been to Budapest, Hungary where I taught English, to Denmark to visit my Danish family, to Madrid for a cultural/linguistic experience, and to Québec to learn French. I post on my Spanish and French blogs for my students to learn about culture. My blog: https://sites.google.com/view/colibri-tutoring/home
