TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been in education for 22 years already. It's hard to believe. I've been a Kindergarten, a First Grade and a Second Grade classroom teacher, in addition to my current position as a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach. Reading is my most-loved subject, which is why I went back for my Reading degree. I absolutely love my job and am truly blessed. ;)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I see myself as a facilitator of learning and believe in data-driven instruction in a fun, interactive environment. I love seeing students actively engaged in their learning. The popular saying, "A guide on the side, not a sage on the stage", fits my style of teaching.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I assist struggling readers in a National Title 1 Distinguished School- Recognized for Closing the Achievement Gap.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Masters in Teaching and Leadership, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, Masters in Reading, ESL Endorsed

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am currently a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach in a PreK-5 school. I've been a Cooperating Teacher to nine student teachers over the years. For the past 7 years, I've mentored first- and second-year teachers, as well as experienced teachers new to my district. On July 1, 2014, I started up a blog called Literacy Loving Gals to share literacy thoughts and ideas with the blogging community. I opened my TpT store in August 2014. Feel free to follow my TpT store to view products I make for my struggling readers and my blog to view firsthand what happens with my RtI students. I can be found at literacylovinggals.blogspot.com. If you have an INSTAGRAM or TWITTER account, my handle is @litlovegal1. Please stop by all the above for a visit! :)
