Colleen's Cosmic Collection

I have a very wide and varied range of experience in teaching. I studied to teach young children from Grade R (South Africa's equivalent of Kindergarten) to Grade 3. I chose to major in Mathematics and found that this was where my passion truly lay. This led me to teach High School Mathematics for Grades 8 - 12 for 4 years. At this time, I also taught A Levels Pure Mathematics and Mechanics for 2 years. I then changed schools and ended up teaching Physical Science for Grades 10 - 12 in addition to Mathematics for a further 5 years. I have now left the public school system so that I can Homeschool my own children. I believe that my range of experience helps me to have a well-rounded view of how children learn and develop. Particularly in terms of Mathematics, I have an understanding both of how young children learn, and also what they will need to learn when they are older, and how to help them be ready for that. I am passionate about making learning fun and exciting for children, so that they can become passionate about learning themselves!

I strive to make learning fun so that children will enjoy and remember what they have been taught.
