TEACHING EXPERIENCE

35 years of teaching math grades 1 - 8 Presented professional development workshops on using the software already on the computer as a teaching and learning tool.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Most of the activities use a constructivist teaching design for math concepts while at the same time increasing students' computer proficiency level.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Author of "HANDS-ON COMPUTER ACTIVITIES FOR TEACHING MATH" GRADES 3 - 8...published by John Wiley (2004)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BS Degree in Elementary Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As a Title I teacher in the East St. Louis (Illinois) public schools, I used models and representations to teach mathematics to gifted and remedial students in grades 1 through 8 for more than thirty-five years. While instructing entire classrooms in a computer lab environment, I created a unique teaching strategy that supports the math standards and increases students' computer proficiency levels. The activities use common software found on most computers. I presented this strategy for professional development workshops at the St. Clair County (Illinois) Regional Office of Education.
