I have worked for Grand Rapids and Muskegon Public Schools over the course of the past seven years. I am currently working at Sabbath Middle School, part of the River Rouge school district. My experience revolves primarily around alternative and at-risk education, and I've worked more with higher grade levels and students with learning deficits.
My style is to incorporate modern society and pop culture into traditional curriculum, bringing the past and present together for the highest level of understanding. I am active, hands-on, and constantly looking for a large variety of ways to engage my students. I also base my teaching around a foundation of relationships and trust.
I received Best Teacher Award, voted by the students, in my school for two years in a row. I also received Teacher of the Month for River Rouge in February 2016.
I attended Aquinas College for both my undergraduate and master's degree studies. My Master's in the Art of Teaching is currently pending.
In addition to my deep love of teaching, I am also a writer, artist, DIY and craft lover.
