TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I have taught grades 1, 2, 3 and 4. I am currently a 4th grade G.T. math/science teacher at Madeley Ranch Elementary in Montgomery, Texas. My classroom is also a PBL (Project Based Learning) classroom. Not only am I a teacher, but I am also a TIM (Technology Integration Mentor) in our district. I am currently pursuing a masters in educational technology leadership.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Our students no longer learn based solely on paper and pencil activities. We must keep them active and engaged. In my room, we take our shoes off and learn on exercise balls. We use technology daily, and laugh always. We are a family..a creative family! We should never put a stop to creativity..no matter if it is a 1st grade classroom or 12th grade.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received Teacher of the Year twice, as well as making it to the semi-finals for HEB's Excellence in Education awards. Just recently, I was surprised with the news that I am 1 of 4 finalists in HEB's 2015 Excellence in Education awards. I will be traveling to Austin, Texas to complete in the finals and the chance to win $10,000 for myself and $10,000 for my school.
