This is my first (full) year as a special education teacher in a K-5 resource classroom. I have students who are served in the areas of reading, writing, math, and behavior. I work hard to create lesson plans that are not only individualized to meet my students' academic levels and needs but also to address their interests. Considering I spend a lot of time creating resources for my classroom, I decided it would be silly for me to keep them to myself! After all, teaching is all about collaboration and community...not re-creating the wheel! Am I right?!
CREATIVITY!!!! I strive to create a FUN environment that facilitates student learning where they feel they are truly in control of their education. I want students to feel like I truly know what they enjoy, so I choose to incorporate their interests into my daily lesson plans. (Although we all know that "Pinterest-worthy" lessons are not appropriate ALL the time, but just as often as possible!) I work hard to keep a similar schedule structure to our daily routine so that students come into the resource classroom knowing what to expect, to an extent!
I'm still a beginning teacher, so I've got plenty of time to continue to strive for big things! :)
